Big game hunting
Big game hunting is currently the main use of the Sierra de Andújar. Hunters from all over the world and from all corners of the peninsula come to their annual appointment with these places: Valdelagrana, Virgin, Sardine, Ojuelo, etc. Preserves of major and minor hunting, forest tracks, roads and sidewalks, rivers, torrents and reservoirs, mark the routes through these natural paradises.
Andujar, with 78 large game reserves, is recognized as the capital of Hunting, a nickname earned with the prestige acquired and worked over the years, with the printing on the canvases of great artists and their literary immortalization. With two star species, the deer and the wild boar, Andújar has traditionally been one of the best destinations in Spain for big game, something that reminds visitors a monument at the entrance to the city. The Sierra of Andújar hosts an approximate number of 70 hunting battues, to which 2,000 people attend every year.
The local gastronomy is the control of the big game, which can be seen in the dishes offered by the various establishments in the city where they agree that one of the high seasons of tourism in the city coincides with weekends where the huntings are developed.
